With the popularization and upgrading of modern information network technology, production and services are gradually showing a trend of globalization, and the traditional industrial chain is replaced.Enterprises carrying out development and design, manufacturing and sales services are scattered in the global production network. The rise and development of the global value chain has promoted the subdivision of production links and the rapid development of intermediate trade. The structural differences in value-added exports potentially affect the status of countries in the global value chain production network. As an important force to promote the economic development and change the productivity of countries, the development of digital economy makes the global value chain show new trends and changes the global production division model. In this context,it is of important theoretical and practical significance to examine the relationship between digital input and domestic value added of exports.By combing the connotation and accounting methods of digital economy and export domestic value added, based on WIOD database and UIBE-GVC database, this paper measures the digital input level index and export domestic value added of 56 industries in 42 countries from 2000 to 2014.Based on the analysis of the empirical model, the conclusions as follow : First, the benchmark regression results show that the level of digital investment, the level of digital infrastructure investment and the level of digital technology application can significantly improve the domestic value added of exports.Among them, the regression coefficient of digital infrastructure is significantly higher than that of digital technology application, which has a greater impact on the increase of domestic value added of exports.Second, according to the development level of each economy,it is found that the promotion effect of digital input on the domestic value added of exports in middle and high income economies and high income economies is significantly higher than that in middle and low income economies. From the perspective of the sub-indicators of digital infrastructure and digital technology application, the effect of digital infrastructure investment on the domestic value added of exports in three different economies remains the same characteristics as the total level of digital investment, while the application of digital technology has no promotion effect on the domestic value added of exports in low-and middle-income economies. The application of digital technology has no significant impact on the export domestic value added of service industry.By grouping manufacturing and service industries according to technology intensity and industry characteristics,it is found that digital input has a significant role in promoting the export domestic value added of low-tech,medium-high-tech manufacturing and producer services, but lacks significance in low-tech manufacturing and basic services.Digital infrastructure investment can significantly promote the export domestic value added of various manufacturing and service industries, but some manufacturing and service industries are not sensitive to or inhibit the change of digital technology application.Third, from the further analysis of the mechanism test,it is found that digital input can promote the increase of domestic value added in exports through three paths : trade cost reduction, human capital structure upgrading and technological innovation. The input of digital infrastructure and the use of digital technology can reduce the search cost, communication cost and transportation cost, and promote trade, thus increasing the domestic value added in exports.Under the influence of digitization, the upgrading of human capital structure can meet the demand for talent supply in various industries, and enhance the monopoly position and ability to obtain benefits of high-end manufacturing and service sectors in the international division of labor,so as to enhance the domestic value-added content of exports.Digital input provides rich technical methods and knowledge resources for R&D innovation activities, which can reduce the threshold of innovation implementation and create a good innovation ecosystem,so as to promote technological progress, embed economic entities in high-end production links, and enhance their domestic value added in exports. In view of the above conclusions, this paper proposes the following policy recommendations for China ’s digital development :(1)Promote the deep integration of digital technology and traditional industries and deepen the application of technology;(2)Create a good digital infrastructure environment and stimulate the potential of the digital economy;(3)Consolidate the foundation of digital industry and enhance industrial competitiveness;(4)Promote the strategy of manufacturing power, clear the talent and technical barriers;(5)Implement the innovation-driven strategy and improve the value chain embedding position. |
