| At the moment,China’s economy has reached a high-quality development stage,and the conflict between environmental preservation and economic development is attracting increased attention.Because of its dual economic and environmental benefits,green technology innovation has become an effective way of resolving the aforementioned tensions,which is beneficial to the green and sustainable growth of the economy and society in the new era.Since Germany proposed the "Industry 4.0" strategy in 2013,countries around the world have attached great importance to the intelligent transformation of manufacturing industries,and China also released "Made in China2025" in 2015,which has promoted the rapid development of intelligent manufacturing.The existing literature focuses more on the impact of industrial intelligence on economic growth and labor employment,while ignoring the fact that the resource-saving trend of industrial intelligence will certainly bring changes to the ecological environment.Based on this,this paper analyzes the impact of industrial intelligence on green technology innovation.Firstly,this essay uses the entropy approach to calculate the amount of urban industrial intelligence by developing a comprehensive industrial intelligence indicator system.A Python web crawler is used to identify the number of green patents and cited data in the RESSET full patent information database,as well as to measure the level of green technology innovation in prefecturelevel cities based on the two dimensions of "quantity" and "quality" of innovation,according to the Green Patent Classification Number(IPC)published by WIPO.Based on this,a visual analysis of China’s level of industrial intelligence and green technology innovation is performed,and it is discovered that,while China’s overall level of industrial intelligence and green technology innovation has steadily improved,there are still significant differences between economic regions.Secondly,using panel data from 284 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2019,this paper uses a panel two-way fixed effect model to study the impact of industrial intelligence on green technology innovation.The empirical results show that industrial intelligence promotes green technology innovation from both "quantity" and "quality" aspects.In order to address possible endogenous issues,this article uses not only the U.S.robot infiltration rate and historical landline penetration rate as instrumental variables,but also generates tool variables based on heteroscedasticity.The two-stage regression results indicate that the benchmark conclusion is still valid.After replacing the explained variables and explanatory variables,excluding municipalities and bilateral data tails,the regression results are still robust.Thirdly,this article empirically observes the mechanism and heterogeneity of the impact of industrial intelligence on green technology innovation.Mechanism testing indicates that industrial intelligence promotes green technological innovation through green upgrading of industrial structure and optimization of human capital structure.Heterogeneity test analysis shows that according to the classification of green patents published by WIPO,industrial intelligence shows a significant incentive effect on energy related green innovation,while its effect on non-energy related green innovation is not significant;From the perspective of investment in urban science and education funds,the positive impact of industrial intelligence is only effective in cities with high science and education funds;From the perspective of urban resource attributes,industrial intelligence promotes green technological innovation in non-resource based cities,while it is not obvious in resource based cities;From the perspective of urban marketization,industrial intelligence has promoted green technological innovation in areas with low marketization,suggesting the need for appropriate environmental regulation.Finally,this article proposes two policy recommendations.First,actively promoting the intelligent transformation process of various industrial departments,accelerating the green application of intelligent factories and equipment,and fully utilizing the development of industrial intelligence to promote green technology innovation.Second,implementing industrial intelligence strategies tailored to the characteristics of different regions to promote green technology innovation.For regions with low levels of industrial intelligence,fully leveraging the latecomer advantages and orderly promoting regional intelligent transformation is necessary. |
