An Empirical Study On The Impact Of The Belt And Road Initiative On Industrial Structure Upgrading

At the moment of economic globalization and regional economic integration,the construction of the Belt and Road will help China integrate deeper into the global economic system,better strengthen regional cooperation,enhance the international trade structure,and promote the transformation and upgrading of the industrial structure.Exploring the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on industrial structure upgrading will contribute to rapid and healthy economic development.This article examines related issues.In order to explore the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the upgrading of the industrial structure of provinces along the route,this paper selects the data of 31 provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions in China from 2010 to 2020 for research and analysis.Firstly,through the collation and induction of relevant literature,it is determined that the upgrading of industrial structure is measured from two aspects,namely,rationalization of industrial structure and advanced industrial structure.Secondly,on the basis of using the propensity score matching method to minimize the influence of confounding variables and data bias,the benchmark regression analysis of the data is carried out by Differences-in-Differences,and the robustness test is carried out,and then the impact of the Belt and Road initiative on the industrial structure upgrading of the provinces along the route is analyzed in depth.Finally,the heterogeneity of the impact of the "Belt and Road" initiative on the industrial structure upgrading of provinces along the route is explored,the country is divided into north and south regions,the heterogeneity of its impact is analyzed in depth by using Differences-in-Differences,and then the heterogeneity of its influence under different quantile points is explored by quantile regression model.The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)On the whole,the Belt and Road Initiative has significantly promoted the upgrading of the industrial structure of provinces along the route.(2)The Belt and Road initiative has effectively improved the industrial structure of provinces along the route,but its role in promoting the rationalization of the industrial structure of provinces along the route is not significant.(3)There is obvious regional heterogeneity in the impact of the Belt and Road initiative on the industrial structure upgrading of provinces along the route,and in the study of regional heterogeneity of industrial structure upgrading in the north and south regions,it is the southern region that can effectively improve the level of rationalization and advanced industrial structure.(4)Under different levels of rationalization and advanced industrial structure,the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the provinces along the route is heterogeneous.Observing the results of quantile regression,it is found that with the improvement of the level of industrial structure rationalization,the rationalization of the industrial structure of the provinces along the Belt and Road cannot be effectively improved at the beginning to the rationalization of the industrial structure of the provinces along the Belt and Road has a significant role in promoting the rationalization of the industrial structure of the provinces along the Belt and Road.In the analysis of different industrial structure advanced levels,the coefficients obtained are all positive and roughly increasing,and the Belt and Road initiative has gradually increased its role in promoting the advanced level of industrial structure in high quantiles.In view of the conclusions reached,this paper gives the following suggestions:integrate advantages,strengthen transformation,and form their own unique industrial competitive advantages;Promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure and enhance the development momentum of various regions;Give full play to the advantages of the Belt and Road international production capacity cooperation and accelerate the pace of industrial going global.
