Research On The Efficiency And Potential Of China’s ICT Products Export Trade With The ASEAN Countries

Nowadays,in the context of the continuous strengthening of the regional economy and the vigorous development of the digital economy,it is the general trend to continue to deepen the cooperation between China and ASEAN in digital trade.ICTs are closely related to the digital economy,and the development of the ICT industry is a vital part of the strategy for the development of the digital economy.In this context,exploring the trade efficiency and potential of China’s ICT exports to ASEAN is of great significance for expanding the scale of China’s overall and ASEAN countries’ ICT exports and optimizing China’s digital trade export structure.This article consists of an introduction and four chapters in five parts.The introduction part is based on analyzing the research background and significance of the thesis,sorting out the current research status at home and abroad involved in the selected topic,and then elaborating the research content,methods and innovation points of the thesis and finding out the shortcomings of the thesis.Chapter 1 briefly elaborates on the concepts of ICT,trade efficiency and trade potential,and introduces the analysis of influencing factors of theories and models involved in topic selection.Chapter 2 introduces the current situation of China’s overall ICT exports and ASEAN ICT products from the perspectives of export scale,export country and product structure,and puts forward the current problems in China’s export of ASEAN ICT products.Chapter 3 is to conduct an empirical study on the trade efficiency and trade potential of China’s export ICT products to ASEAN in the 14 years from 2008～2021 on the basis of constructing a stochastic frontier gravity model and a trade inefficiency model,and further analyze the fixed effect of trade potential.Chapter 4 summarizes the export status and model analysis results,and puts forward corresponding policy suggestions for improving and expanding bilateral digital trade cooperation between China and ASEAN.Based on the results of the research and empirical analysis of this paper,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)China’s trade in ICT products exported to ASEAN has shown a steady growth trend in recent years,among which exports to Vietnam are particularly strong,but the structure of export products is unbalanced.(2)Trade inefficiency items are important factors affecting China’s export of ICT products to ASEAN.Population size,internet penetration,and logistics performance of the 10 ASEAN countries are key variables affecting export value,as confirmed by a fixed-effect analysis of trade potential.(3)The average trade efficiency of China’s ICT products exports to ASEAN is 0.1368,except for Singapore,which is the only potential pioneer country,with an average trade efficiency of 0.874,the trade efficiency of other countries is basically less than 0.15,and the trade potential has not been fully released,all of which are countries with great potential.(4)Among ASEAN countries,China’s export of ICT products to Vietnam has the highest room for trade improvement,reaching 232.6 billion US dollars,followed by Indonesia and the Philippines,at about 100 billion US dollars,Brunei and Singapore have the least,both less than 1 billion US dollars.
