The Study On The Trade Potential Of Aquatic Products Between China And ASEAN Countries

Trade between China and ASEAN countries has increased since the start of Chinese-ASEAN Free Trade Area.As an important area of China and ASEAN economic cooperation,aquatic products trade has attracted the great attention of both countries.Especially Chinese-ASEAN Free Trade Area is fully completed in 2010,which applies zero tariff treatment to more than 90%trade products(including aquatic products)of both sides.After the Belt and Road Initiative raised in 2013,China and ASEAN countries have cooperated on traffic infrastructure,trade and investment,regional integration,and RMB internationalization,which provide a broader space for aquatic products trade of two sides.On the basis of a brief review of the theoretical and practical research,firstly a more comprehensive statistical analysis and comparative study is conducted on the current status of China and ASEAN aquatic products trade.The development status and characteristics of China and ASEAN aquatic products trade are analyzed respectively through an overall situation and country situation of aquatic products trade;Secondly,using the trade-union index and dominant comparative advantage index were selected to analyze the trade relationship of aquatic products between China and ASEAN in 2009-2016,the result is that the trade of aquatic products in the two places depends on each other and exits some competition to some extent.On the basis of this,the author uses the gravitation model to study the trade data of aquatic products between China and ASEAN from 2009 to 2016.The results show that the factors affecting the trade of aquatic products between China and ASEAN should be divided into natural elements and human factors,including the output value of China fishery,Gross Domestic Product of ASEAN countries,per capital income gap,population of ASEAN countries,distance between import and export countries,and liner shipping correlation index,port infrastructure index,Chinese export time and zero tariff treatment.The output value of China fishery,Gross Domestic Product of ASEAN countries and population of ASEAN countries are positively correlated with bilateral aquatic products trade,while per capital income gap and distance are negatively correlated with bilateral aquatic products trade.What's more,liner shipping correlation index could reduce the trade efficiency,while port infrastructure index,Chinese exporttime and zero tariff treatment could improve the trade efficiency.Based on the results of empirical analysis,the potential value of aquatic products trade between China and ASEAN is further calculated,and it is found that the potential value of aquatic products trade between China and ASEAN countries has a large prospect.Finally,the author puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on the basis of summarizing the above theoretical analysis and empirical research,which include:develop Chinese fisheries to enhance the competitiveness of aquatic products and implement the Belt and Road Initiative to improve the level of trade facilitation.
