Today,with the rapid development of science and technology,the communication between people is becoming more and more timely and efficient.The application of mobile communication technology has greatly changed the working form of modern workplace and formed a more flexible working system,giving employees the possibility to connect with work during non working hours.This kind of non working time work events and their influence have aroused academic attention and discussion.Existing studies have paid attention to the positive or negative effects of WCBA on employees’ work attitude and work family conflict.Most of the studies are carried out from a single perspective,without paying attention to the possible organizational paradox effect in the process of its impact on employees’ behavior and psychology.Based on job demand-resource model,combined with self-depletion theory and selfcategorization theory,this study constructs the double path theoretical model of WCBA which respectively acting on the workplace deviance behavior and job crafting through Health-and Body-related Anxieties and Perceived Insider Status,and discussed the effect of Future Work Self Salience as the moderator of this model.765 valid questionnaires were collected in Guangdong,Hunan,Zhejiang,Beijing and other places through questionnaire survey,and the conceptual model was empirically tested by confirmatory factor analysis and hierarchical regression analysis.The results showed that :(1)WCBA positively affected work deviance behavior through health-and body-related anxieties;(2)WCBA positively affects job crafting through perceived insider status;(3)Future work self-salience negatively moderates the positive impact of WCBA on health-and body-related anxiety.The higher the future work self-salience,the weaker the positive impact of WCBA on self-salience;(4)Future work self-salience weakens the mediating effect of health-and body-related anxiety between WCBA and workplace deviant behavior.When the future work self-salience is higher,the mediating effect of health-and body-related anxiety between WCBA and workplace deviant behavior is weaker;(5)Future work self-salience positively moderates the positive impact of WCBA on perceived insider status.The higher the future work selfsalience,the stronger the positive impact of WCBA on perceived insider status;(6)Future work self-salience strengthens the mediating role of perceived insider status between WCBA and job crafting.When the future work self-salience is higher,the mediating role of perceived insider status between WCBA and job crafting is stronger.From the dual perspectives of work demand and work resources,combined with ego depletion theory and self-categorization theory,this study explores the double-edged sword effect and its influence mechanism of WCBA on employees’ extra role behavior.It expands the research perspective and enriches the research results.This study suggests that managers should treat the frequent WCBA in modern workplace rationally,pay more attention to the mental health status of employees,pay attention to the way of communication,and take multiple measures to activate the positive effects of WCBA while restraining its negative effects. |
