While economic globalization has brought more opportunities to enterprises,it has also brought more challenges: market demand is changing rapidly,customers have more and more diverse service requirements,customers have increasingly high requirements for supply response speed,and the life cycle of various products continues shorten.Enterprises need to continuously explore,balance,and optimize the two mutually restrictive subjects of improving customer satisfaction and controlling operating costs.The increasingly fierce competition among enterprises has gradually evolved into competition among supply chains of various enterprises,that is,the supply chain management level has become one of the key factors for a company to maintain its leading position in the industry.Sales and operations planning(S&OP)is a set of business processes that have been widely used by large multinational companies in the past few decades and have been proven to be effective in optimizing supply chain management and performance.The sales and operations planning is not only suitable for coordinating resources within the enterprise to achieve better supply chain delivery performance,but also helping the enterprise reduce costs by balancing supply-demand and production-marketing coordination.Most importantly,it assists the enterprise management to effectively use internal and external resources,conduct strategic planning and timely decision-making to seize market opportunities.The new energy industry in which Company A is located has been developing strongly in recent years,and the competition in the industry has become increasingly fierce.The market and all enterprises are looking forward to maintaining their competitiveness through better performance of the supply chain.The rapid expansion of lithium-ion battery-related enterprises,including Company A,has brought about the need for integration and coordination of internal supply chain processes.The research content of this paper is how Company A improves and optimizes the problems such as slow delivery response,unbalanced inventory level and unsalable goods in the scope of supply chain management based on the application and improvement of sales and operation planning(S&OP),and ultimately improves supply chain performance.This thesis first uses the literature analysis method to explain the basic theory and general process of S&OP,and to sort out other basic theories related to it,including demand forecasting theory,product life cycle theory and supply chain management related theories.The manufacturing resource planning theory and lean thinking is involved as well to introduce the role of sales and operations planning in production operations.Subsequently,this article describes,researches,and analyzes the basic situation of Company A and the problems in its supply chain through the case analysis method.The final answers to a series of superficial questions point to the lack of integration and coordination mechanisms in the overall perspective.The article then analyzes the S&OP operation of Company A and introduces the solution to the existing problems of Company A’s supply chain based on S&OP.Studies have shown that the correct implementation of sales and operations planning can effectively optimize the level of supply chain management.Finally,the article looks forward to related topics and research.This thesis sorts out and introduces the theory of sales and operations planning(S&OP)clearly and strives to provide a theoretical basis for guiding enterprise practice.The case study of manufacturing Company A using S&OP to optimize supply chain management in this paper proves that the sales and operations planning has a good effect in improving the supply response speed,inventory management performance and production operation performance of the company,and it can ultimately help the company improving collaboration efficiency,reducing operating costs,enabling enterprises to maintain long-term competitive advantages and continuously improving competitiveness.Because this set of business processes is still not widely used in Chinese local enterprises,the article hopes to contribute a little bit to carry forward the promotion of sales and operation plans in China.
