| In the context of the digital economy,China has proposed "Made in China 2025",which regards the digital transformation of enterprises as an important strategy for the development of manufacturing enterprises.Various regions have continuously issued favorable policies,hoping to promote the transformation of manufacturing industry from large quantity to strong quality through digital transformation,and then enter the ranks of manufacturing powers.However,as a pillar industry of China’s economy,its problems such as overcapacity,fierce market competition,rising labor costs,high resource consumption,and serious environmental pollution are increasingly prominent.Digital transformation has become the only way for manufacturing enterprises to survive and sustain development.However,at present,the degree of digital transformation of manufacturing enterprises in China is uneven,most of them are in the initial stage,and digital transformation is fraught with difficulties.How manufacturing enterprises seize opportunities to face challenges,how to break through transformation difficulties,and achieve high-performance digital transformation has become an urgent issue to be solved.To this end,this article proposes the following four questions to explore ways to improve the performance of digital transformation in manufacturing enterprises and provide valuable reference for manufacturing enterprises to improve quality and efficiency:(1)What factors will affect the performance of digital transformation in manufacturing enterprises?(2)How do these key factors combine to produce high corporate digital transformation performance?(3)What key factors are missing that lead to non high corporate digital transformation performance?(4)How can manufacturing enterprises improve their performance in digital transformation?In order to answer the above questions,this article conducts research along the main line of "posing questions-factor identification-building theoretical models-path exploration-improvement strategies" :(1)In posing questions,this article sets out from the era background of the digital economy,based on the current situation and difficulties of manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation,and proposes research questions.(2)In the factor identification section,it sorts out the factors that affect the performance of manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation and the impact path of digital transformation performance,and extracts key factors that affect the performance of enterprises’ digital transformation from the three levels of government,market,and enterprise,specifically including the business environment,environmental complexity,digital infrastructure,digital technology,endogenous financing capabilities,and innovation capabilities.(3)Build a theoretical model,combined with synergy theory,to analyze the mechanism of key factors affecting the performance of manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation,and build a configuration model of influencing factors for enterprise digital transformation.(4)In the path exploration section,based on the data of 79 listed manufacturing enterprises,the qualitative comparative analysis method of fuzzy sets is used to explore the configuration effects of six key factors on the performance of manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation.Five configuration paths for high manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation performance and five configuration paths for non high manufacturing enterprises’ digital transformation performance are obtained,and the key points for efficient transformation and precautions for inefficient transformation are compared and analyzed.(5)Improving strategies: Based on empirical research results,propose strategies to improve the performance of manufacturing enterprises in digital transformation.Based on the above research,the main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)A single factor does not constitute a necessary condition for high Digital transformation performance of manufacturing industry.Enterprise resources and capabilities need to be coordinated with the external environment to lead to high Digital transformation performance.(2)For enterprises with high performance in Digital transformation,five performance improvement strategies are summarized;For enterprises with low performance in Digital transformation,there are mainly four performance improvement strategies for Digital transformation.(3)Innovation capability is crucial in the Digital transformation of enterprises.(4)Digital infrastructure construction and digital technology have a certain substitutive effect.(5)The Digital transformation of an enterprise is not just the introduction of new technologies or the completion of "building a platform and putting it on the system".It needs the cooperation of other resources.(6)Business environment and environmental complexity play an important role in manufacturing enterprises’ high digital transformation performance.This article achieves three aspects of innovation:(1)From a research perspective,this article includes the government as an important subject in the study,and extracts key influencing factors from the three levels of government,market,and enterprise to analyze the impact of government and enterprise collaboration on digital transformation,providing new ideas for future scholars to study the issue of enterprise digital transformation.(2)In terms of research content,from the positive and negative perspectives of transformation success and transformation inefficiency,empirical and comparative studies have been conducted to explore the configuration paths of digital transformation for high and non high enterprises,respectively,expanding the research on the path of enterprise digital transformation.(3)In terms of research methods,the QCA method is used to study the performance of enterprise digital transformation,broadening the research methods of enterprise digital transformation.This article uses 79 manufacturing enterprises as research samples to explore the path of high digital transformation performance and non high digital transformation performance,provide path reference for enterprise transformation,avoid inefficient transformation,and provide practical guidance and suggestions for the government to coordinate enterprise transformation,which has certain theoretical value and practical significance. |
