| In the context of the Current century of change and the epidemic of the century,it is of contemporary significance to enhance China’s comprehensive strength and international competitiveness.As the foundation of a strong country,the manufacturing industry should adhere to independent innovation and break through the "low-end lock".The "14th Five-Year Plan" digital economy development plan points out that the development of digital economy is a strategic choice to grasp the new round of technological revolution and industrial change.It is worthwhile to study in depth whether,how much and how to improve the performance of technological innovation,if enterprises can realize the change of the whole business chain such as management,R&D design and manufacturing with the help of digital technology.In recent years,the impact of enterprise digitalization on operation and management has received academic attention,but there are few studies on the impact of enterprise digitalization on technological innovation.This paper takes this as an entry point to explore the contribution and mechanism of digitalization of manufacturing enterprises to technological innovation performance on the basis of clarifying the connotation of enterprise digitalization.This is of great theoretical and practical significance for promoting independent innovation and improving international competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises in China.The research content of this thesis are as follows: Firstly,on the basis of combing and reviewing related literature and theories,we construct a theoretical analysis framework of enterprise digitalization affecting technological innovation performance,and explore the influence mechanism of enterprise digitalization on technological innovation performance and the specific effects among them from three aspects:Agency problem,R&D expenditure investment and labor quality.Secondly,we construct a comprehensive index to portray the digitalization of enterprises from the perspective of enterprise digitalization process.On this basis,we measure and analyze the digitalization level of Chinese listed manufacturing enterprises from 2008 to 2020,and apply multiple regression methods to test the contribution of enterprise digitalization to technological innovation performance.Then,a mediation model is established to test the mechanism of digitalization of manufacturing enterprises affecting technological innovation performance,and its heterogeneity is analyzed.Finally,relevant suggestions are proposed based on the research findings.The following research conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall digitalization level of manufacturing enterprises in China is on the rise,but the gap between enterprises with different technological attributes and regional attributes is obvious,and the digitalization level of enterprises in high-tech industries and eastern regions is higher in comparison.(2)The contribution of digitalization of manufacturing enterprises to technological innovation performance can reach 15%-20%,which has a significant promotion effect;and this promotion effect is sustainable,and it still has a significant contribution of more than 10% to technological innovation performance in the second to third year of digitalization.(3)The digitalization of manufacturing enterprises can improve technological innovation performance through the resolution of Agency problems in technological innovation,the enhancement of R&D investment,and the mechanism of labor quality optimization;however,the mechanism of R&D investment is somewhat heterogeneous by sample,and it is more significant in non-state-owned enterprises and enterprises in high-tech industries than in other samples.The innovation points of this thesis are as follows:(1)verified the important driving role of digitalization of manufacturing enterprises on technological innovation performance;(2)constructed a research framework of the mechanism of digitalizationdriven technological innovation performance improvement of manufacturing enterprises,and revealed the specific mechanism and effect of it;(3)constructed a comprehensive measurement index of enterprise digitalization,and measured and analyzed enterprise digitalization. |
