The Impact Of Enterprise Digitalization On Enterprise Export Technology Complexity

With the development of the trend of economic globalization,China pays more and more attention to the foreign trade of manufacturing enterprises,and the export complexity,as a comprehensive index to measure foreign trade,has attracted extensive attention from scholars at home and abroad.At the same time,with the advent of the Internet era,digital technology has brought a greater impact on the development of domestic enterprises,especially the manufacturing industry,and the degree of digitalization of enterprises has increased year by year.Under this background,it is of positive and practical significance to study the relationship between enterprise digitalization and enterprise export complexity to help China’s foreign trade develop in the digital era.Firstly,this paper analyses the impact of digitalisation on the technological complexity of exporting enterprises and its path of action,concluding that an increase in the degree of digitalisation of enterprises can increase the technological complexity of exporting enterprises.At the same time,from the analysis of the path of action,the increase of the degree of digitalization of enterprises can promote the upgrading of the complexity of export technology by improving the technological innovation ability of enterprises and easing the financing constraints of enterprises.Secondly,in terms of empirical analysis,based on the data of listed companies from 2011 to 2021,this paper calculates the degree of enterprise digital transformation and the complexity of enterprise export technology of 1601 listed companies,and carries out benchmark regression and intermediary effect regression.In addition,the heterogeneity is further tested based on the nature of the enterprise and the location of the enterprise.All the results support the main conclusions of this paper and pass the robustness test.The results show that: firstly,the digitalization of enterprises has a significant positive impact on the complexity of enterprises’ export technology.Secondly,enterprise digitalization can improve the export technology complexity of enterprises by improving their technological innovation capability and alleviating the financing constraints of enterprises.Thirdly,further research found that the increase of stateowned enterprises’ digitalization has more obvious impact on the complexity of enterprises’ exports,while the digitalization of private enterprises has little impact on their re-export complexity;At the level of enterprises and regions,the digitalization of enterprises in the eastern region can significantly improve the complexity of enterprises’ exports.The western region has a certain effect,while the central region has little impact.Finally,according to the research results,this paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions from two levels: the government should speed up the infrastructure construction of digital information platform,actively play the leading role of industrial demonstration to encourage enterprises to innovate,and develop digital economy according to local conditions;Enterprises should strengthen digital technology cooperation within the industry,and increase investment in digital personnel training and research and development to jointly promote industrial technology upgrading.
