Land circulation mode is related to the efficiency and long-term stability of family farm production and management. At present,Hunan Province has innovated and developed a variety of indirect land transfer modes, which can solve many problems, such as difficult land transfer of family farms, unstable transfer contracts, land fragmentation and so on.The actual research found that the indirect transfer mode is favored by family farms, but the stability of family farms choosing the indirect transfer mode is not strong.Opening the "black box" for family farms to choose land transfer mode has important enlightenment significance for improving the efficiency and stability of family farm production and management.Land transfer disputes occur frequently. Most family farmers are risk averse, and have a high sensitivity to the risk of default in land transfer.Family farmers have a high perception of the risk of default in land transfer, and usually choose a guaranteed transfer mode;Family farmers have a low perception of the default risk of land transfer and will choose the transfer mode with low cost. Therefore, the perception of default risk of land transfer will affect the family farm’s choice of land transfer mode.In addition, family farms rely heavily on their own relationship network resources for land transfer, and the development of farmers’ relationship network will also affect family farms’ choice of land transfer mode. The relationship network is helpful for farmers to collect land transfer information and restrict the default behavior in land transfer through informal mechanism,so as to adjust the farmers’ perception of the default risk of land transfer. To sum up,this paper believes that the perception of default risk of land transfer and relationship network are the key factors affecting the choice of land transfer mode by family farms. The relationship network has a regulatory effect between the perception of default risk and the choice of land transfer mode by family farms.Based on this, firstly, with the help of farmers’ behavior theory, contract theory, transaction cost theory and signal theory, this paper theoretically analyzes the impact of default risk perception and relationship network on family farms’ choice of land transfer mode.Secondly, through the micro survey data of 387 family farms in Hunan Province, this paper makes an empirical analysis on the perception of default risk of land transfer and the impact of relationship network on the choice of land transfer mode of family farms by using binary logistic regression model. The study found that:(1)the greater the family farmers’ perception of the default risk of land transfer, the greater the probability of choosing the indirect transfer mode with the participation of the government to transfer land.(2)The more developed the relationship network of family farmers, the greater the probability of choosing the direct transfer mode to transfer land.(3)The relationship network has a negative regulatory effect on the relationship between the perception of default risk of land transfer and the choice of land transfer mode by family farmers.(4)The choice of land transfer mode for family farms is also related to the educational background of family farmers, nonagricultural work experience, number of family farmers, land transfer area and number of land management blocks. This paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions to innovate or optimize the land transfer mode.
