The Impact Of Imported Industrial Robots On The Quality Of Exported Products

Although China’s export scale has rapidly expanded,the quality of export products has not improved significantly,resulting in the problem of "big but not strong" in exports.At the same time,there are a series of constraining factors for China’s high-quality trade development,such as the uneven quality of export products,lack of independent brands,and poor low-price competition.Based on this,the report of the 20 th Party Congress report proposed that China should "promote the optimization and upgrading of commodity trade","accelerate the construction of a strong trading nation","optimize trade structure,cultivate new business drivers,and improve the quality and efficiency of trade development",which requires improving the quality of China’s enterprises’ export products,and constantly narrowing the gap with trading powers.At present,during a critical period in which China’s labor cost advantage is weakening,artificial intelligence represented by industrial robots is rapidly developing,and Chinese manufacturing is undergoing transformation and upgrading,this study has important theoretical and practical significance:(1)It helps to clarify the impact of imported industrial robots on the quality of Chinese industrial enterprises’ exports,the mechanism of action,and the heterogeneity analysis,which enriches the theory of related research fields;(2)It provides a theoretical basis for policies and measures to promote the high-level development of export trade through industrial robots.This study examines the impact of imported industrial robots on the quality upgrading of China’s manufacturing exports from the enterprise level.Using the 2000-2013 China Customs database and China industrial enterprise database,this paper employs a fixed-effects model for empirical regression,and the conclusions are:(1)Import industrial robots have significantly improved the quality of China’s manufacturing enterprises’ export products,and the results are still stable through changing core variables,changing data dimensions,dealing with endogenous and other ways;(2)Based on the mediation model,It can be concluded that imported industrial robots may improve the quality of exported products by increasing total factor productivity.;(3)Imported robots have a stronger effect on improving product quality in large enterprises,high-tech enterprises,processing and trading enterprises,and enterprises in the central and western regions.Combining the above conclusions,this paper puts forward relevant suggestions from two perspectives,Government policy suggestions: implement various preferential policies;improve supporting infrastructure;reform talent system and mechanism;set up commercial platform.Enterprise strategy suggestions: standardize business processes;reasonably introduce industrial robots;select high-quality suppliers;focus on cultivating suitable personnel.So as to actively promote the role of introducing industrial robots in improving the quality of export products.
