This dissertation deals with systematics of the subfamily Phylinae from China. It comprises three parts:the introduction, the taxonomy and the biogeographic analysis. The introduction is the first part which focuses on the research history, general morphology. The abbreviation, measurement, material and method and biology are also introduced. In the taxonomy part,103 species belonging to 21 genera in 5 tribes from China are recognized, in which 23 species are described as new to science (including 5 species published in 2009):Acrorrhinium amblyangulum sp.nov., A. dolichantennatum sp. nov., Cleotomiroides exornatus sp. nov., C. hamatus sp. nov. Compsidolon hainanensis sp. nov., Hypseloecus megistus sp. nov., Pherolepis longipilus Zhang & Liu,2009, P nigrinus Zhang & Liu,2009, P. robustus Zhang & Liu,2009, Pilophorus elegans sp. nov., P. elongatus Zhang & Liu, 2009, P. fortinigritus Zhang & Liu,2009, P. fulvicomus sp. nov., P. grossicomatus sp. nov., P. mediatus sp. nov., P. stigmatoideus sp. nov., P. zoui sp. nov., Plagiognathus inpunctalus sp. nov., P. maltizonatus sp. nov., Sejanus torsivus sp. nov., Wygomiris secalinus sp. nov., W. yuanjiangensis sp. nov., Hallodapus longivalidus sp. nov..4 genera and 38 species are newly recorded to China. Spinolosus Zou,1985 is proposed as a new synonym of Pilophorus Hahn,1826. Pilophorus badius (zou,1985) [Spinolosus] is proposed as a new combination. The items of related taxa including the new synonym and combination are listed. Keys to Chinese taxa are given. The illustrations of the male genitalia of most species are provided. Photographs of the dorsal habitus are in plateâ… , and photographs of SEM are in plateâ…¡. Detail information is listed for most material examined, including number and sex of specimens. In the part of biogeographic analysis, the distributional patterns of both genera and species of the 4 tribes of Phylinae of the world and China are analyzed. The type speciemens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, College of Life Sciences, Nankai University, Tianjin, China. The study is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 30470210).
