The application of SSP can reduce the restriction on the last flow in order toimprove the output of continuous casting, boost the hot delivery rate and the temperature,decrease rolling pass of the roughing and the cooling, control the plan view pattern of thepressed slab well, and increase the rate of hot rolling yield. It also can make productionline organize small-lot and multi-specs production according to the market demand andthe species of continuous casting slab can be reduced. At the same time it plays a positiverole in the reduction of cost, energy conservation and emission reduction, the increase ofresource utilization ratio and the benefit for enterprises.The virtual prototype of1880SSP is built and the whole movement of it issimulated through applying the multi-rigid-body theory, the error assembly and3dmodeling software Pro/E, whose aim is that the kinematics and dynamics parameters ofthe whole equipment and all kinds of major components and parts are mastered, that theparameter support of safe operation of equipments is supplied and that the exactboundary conditions are provided for subsequent finite element computing.A3-dimensional numerical simulation model is built which is coupled thermal anddeformation through the finite software DEFORM, and the pressing process of slab issimulated through applying software according to actual operating condition in order tostudy some elements of the anvil influencing on the control the plan view pattern of thepressed slab. The figurate distribution of slab section is proposed after analyzing themetal flow law in the slab pressing process, and the reason of the gadolinium-breakedpressed slab is that there is a large difference value of the vertical section when it ispinched out of the SSP. The new type of anvil is proposed by analyzing unreasonabilityof the anvil which is used in the line and some elements of the anvil influencing on theflatness control. The anvil has to be changed for the smaller difference value and thebetter distribute of metal in the vertical section.As for the severe wear and the shorter service life of SSP pinch roll, which makesthe work of spot inspection and repairing onerous and the expensive value of the spare parts, different improved schemes are put forward according to different reasons of thepinch roll wearing off by the finite element simulation calculation and the on-site survey.The reason of the most serious wearing back pinch roll is that there is the local contactbetween dog-bone deformation of pressed slab and back pinch roll and that specialoperation mode makes back pinch roll produce too large local stress, drastic bounce, hightemperature and collision between slabs in the process of pinching slabs. In order toprolong the service life, the working condition of the back pinch roll has to be improved.A reasonable roll shape is proposed by analyzing the influence of width, thickness,pressing value and material of slab on the section shape. By shortening the back pinchroll and changing the shape of the roll, it not only avoids contacting with the peaks of thedog-bone deformation, but also touches the flatter middle part of the slab. So the workingcondition is further improved as the bounce is lightened and the contact area is increased.In order to verify the correctness of the mode and the calculation result of the finiteelement, the experimental analysis of the pressing process should be done. As there is adifference between the experimental model built in the lab and the real model which isworking on the production line, the very two models must be built as similar models sothat the experimental results can verify the finite model. After similarity calculation ofparameters of the finite element model, the experimental model is built. The flow stressof Q235A and lead are measured with Gleeble-3500in order to get the accurate date forthe finite element calculation and the similarity calculation. The experimental crankforging press is reformed in order to make the speed of two models similar. Then, theforging force of experimental model is measured and is by similar calculation, whichrealizes that the correctness of finite element is verified and the application on site offinite element calculated results provides the necessary support.
