Taiwanese Modern Literature History Draft (1923-1949)

The language of the Taiwanese modern literature works carry bodies to have various patterns : classical Chinese, Chinese nationallanguage(mandarin), dialects(Hakka , South Fukien dialect, Taiwanese minority language) and Japanese etc. This dissertation tries to set up a Taiwanese mordern literature history from the angle of the languages used during writers' composing or translating the texts, and research into special phenomena of the transitions between languages in the process of Taiwanese modern literature by the usage of sociolinguistics.This dissertation takes the language conversion as main vein, with Taiwan restoration for boundary. So the modern Taiwanese literature history is divided into two big parts (the top and bottom section) to carry on treatise : the Japanese occupation period of time (1923. 1. 1-1945. 8. 15) and the early years of Taiwanese restoration period (1945. 8. 16-1949. 5. 20);Among them, the Japanese occupation period of time is divided into two small stages again according to the time part(the days before the authority abolished the Taiwanese Chinese newspapers and magazines or the columns written in Chinese of newspapers and magazines in June 1937, and afterward). Meanwhile, according to the literature essence , the literature outer circle culture , and their symbiosis mixture appearance as they both melt to be (its main performance is Literature contestation), the two big parts (the top and bottom article) of the dissertation are respectively divided into three angles and layers to expound: outer writing , the observation and study of the inner part of literature, the imbroglio and entanglement inside or outside literature.The peripheral cultural relationship of literature ,for example, social system in the literature outer circle etc., and the outer writing (such as diaspora writings) , is the necessary organic constitute part of Taiwanese modern literature history, and reflects the Chinese cultural import of Taiwanese modern literature.However, the marginal writing of the literature inner part (such as female literature, underground writing, folk writing etc.), the transitions between languages (such as the transition between Chinese and Japanese , the transition between classical Chinese and mandarin , the transition between dialects and classical Chinese , the transition between dialects and mandarin, etc.),and Cultural metaphor(such as metaphor of the narrative structures , metaphor of the person images, metaphor of the backgrounds, etc.) then show the tenacity aggro spirit of Taiwanese literature to pursue progress and guard Chinese culture securely.The literature contestations during Japanese occupation period and the literature discussions during the early years of Taiwanese restoration period, constitute the bridge of communication for the matters of literature outer circle and the matters of literature internal part, control and lead the Chinese cultural essence direction of the Taiwanese modern literature development.
