The Chinese dialects spoken in Fujian province is highly complicated. Pu-Xian(Putian and Xianyou) district is located between Quanzhou and Fuzhou. The dialect of Pu-Xian, used to be a part of Southern Min group, evolved into a typical transitional dialect under the strong and penetrative influence of Eastern Min dialect over the centuries. As the outcome, the features of Pu-Xian dialect is a mixture of some remained from Southern Min, some adopted from Eastern Min and some of its own. Along with Southern Min and Eastern Min, Pu-Xian now stands as the third member of the Outer Min Group along the Fujian coast.Pu-Xian dialect is worth being studied on account of its transitional features. But little has been done. It neglects to study systematically and deeply that people fall to be apt to discuss seemingly within the phonetics, lexical and grammar.This paper mainly contains following: first of all, it starts with Donghai(东海) dialect, which is located between Putian(莆田) and Xianyou(仙游), and faces Eastern Min. It describes and analyzes Pu-Xian dialect's features anew, and tries to focus on analyzing Donghai dialect's transitional features showed by both in phonetics and lexical in the triangle-region. Secondly, as a speech island of Pu-Xian dialect,Aoyao(澳腰) has been doubly-surrounded by Eastern Min and Southern Min, therefore it forms one tri-dialect which possesses obviously features like Creole. The paper tries to find out Pu-Xian dialect how to come into being like today by analyzing the transitional features of Aoyao dialect with synchrony and diachrony. Thirdly, Pu-Xian is a mixture of the Outer Min Group along the Fujian coast .The paper takes pains to analyze Pu-Xian dialect by comparison with Southern Min and Eastern Min, and systematically summarize its transitional features in phonetics, lexical and grammar. Finally, basing on dissecting Pu-Xian dialect ----the little sparrow in detail, the paper sums up general transitional features such as localty, gradualty, compatibility and systematicalty and so on, and sums up dialects' contact patterns in phonetics, lexical and grammar. All of these may help to know the transitional dialect more closely.
