One characteristics of basic geographic information database application is that rapid updating is constrained by geographical information application bottlenecks. In this research, the construction of basic geographic information databases and rapid updating by means of temporal database technologies are examined.This article argues that there is no essential difference between production and update, production is the update. A process flow is re-designed that stores the data in the four elements of the production cycle into the one logical database and then discrctizes surveying and mapping production tasks and results.Temporal databases store time status information from real-world phenomena, and are important for advanced applications that must use geographic information more effectively. Introducting temporal geographic object cube model into GIS addresses the weaknesses of static object management in GIS as well as data updating and publication limitations. Such integration offers a method to enhance basic geographic information data with temporal characteristics for better storage management, and rapid updating for Internet of Things, Smart City, disaster prevention and emergency response applications.A review of the current geographical object model from a modeling perspective, suggests a new approach to achieve the goal of object-oriented temporal geographical objects and models. This research is extended to create a foundation for quick updates with temporal information storage for vector and raster databases.A viable technology roadmap for quickly updating basic geographic information services must integrate temporal data into basic geographic information updating, management, and publishing applications.In this article, key technologies such as concurrency conflict detection processes and collaborative updates of geographic information databases and rapid updating are also examined. A cooperative update mechanism and a conflict detection and elimination strategies was built to better solve updating problems in actual production.Updating of large scale temporal topographic map database as a practical application is provided.
