This paper mainly discusses the types, distribution, modes of occurrence, enrichmentmechanism, genesis and provenance of mineral matter(minerals and elements) in the No.6coal ofTaiyuan Formation of Late Paleozoic in the Jungar Coalfield, using a series of theories andmethods of mineralogy, petrology, coal petrology and geochemistry. The minerals in the coalseams and partings were kaolinite and beohmite. The beohmite in the coal seam mainly came fromterrigenous aluminum colloid, while the beohmite in the partings also came from the alteration ofkaolinite besides colloid origin. The detrital input has a significant influence on geochemistry ofNo.6coal, in which Li, Ga, Sr, Nb, Ta, W, Pb, Th, Zr, Hf, and REE are enriched. The minerals ofNo.6coal in the Jungar Coalfield is mainly derived from the weathering of Caledonian-Hercyniangranites, such as plagioclase granites, adamellites, moyites and aplitic granites, and bauxitedeposits from Benxi Formation.
