Beryllium is a very rare, precious metal with a variety of features. In today’s technological society, beryllium is widely used in national defense, aerospace, automotive, medical and electronics industry etc. Thedistribution and exploration and development beryllium ore deposits in the worldare limited, whose main resources are produced in the United States of America(Utah, New Mexico, Texas) and Mexico, including world-class Spor Mountain Be-U-F or epithermal volcanic rocks deposit. The information of world’s beryllium ore is old, especially limitedfor the research of volcanic rock type beryllium ore deposits. The author collected the data on the global beryllium ore resources situation, the geological and geochemical characteristics systematically, to study comparatively about two typical world-class deposits(Spor mountain and Xinjiang Poplar River), and then put forward the metallogenic regularity of beryllium ore deposits and suggested favorable areas in China for prospecting direction.The paper chooses the Xuemisitan volcanic rock type of beryllium ore deposit as a main resesearch object. The research is focused on the geotectonics, volcanico rocks hosting the beryllium ore, and mineralization evolution. The various lines of evidences confirm that the belts has a good mineralization conditions. Through the detailed research of Poplar River beryllium deposit, it is discovered that the deposit is controlled by 4 phases of mineralization, which are characterized bylow temperature, low salinity, and widehydrothermal composition. The main beryllium-bearing minerals of Poplar River deposit is bertrandite which is closelyexisting with fluorite, in the edge or interior of fluorites.Through the above-mentioned study, the paper established the indication of beryllium ore prospecting, i.e. fluoritization, carbonatization and beryllium anomalies, among them, fluoritization are the most significant indication. On the basis of study, controlling factors and metallogenic regularity related tothe beryllium mineralization are summarized.This area’sstructural and lithologic conditions are in favour of beryllium mineralization. The beryllium mineralizatin is controlled by regional structure, the contact zone, volcanic mechanism, hydrothermal activity and fluoritization alteration. The paper finally puts forward the prospecting direction of this area, and the geological prospecting models,:i.e. acid volcanic rock + contact zone + fluoritization + carbonate vein area, The Xuemisitanregion is an advantageous for further beryllium ore prospecting and research work,. 10 prospecting areasare suggested.
