China's economic development has entered a new stage.The sustainable development of the economy needs to shift from economic growth driven by factor scale to human capital,technological progress and innovation.High-quality labor resource is necessary for realizing the above-mentioned transfer.However,in schools in poor rural areas of China,students are suffered malnutrition problems.The main reason for this phenomenon is micronutrient deficiencies,especially iron deficiency anemia.International experience shows that iron deficiency anemia has negative impact on students' physical health,mental health,cognitive ability and academic performance,affecting the future return in the labor market.Health affects the stock of human capital in China.The Chinese government launched national nutrition program in 2012.The aim is to improve student nutrition and improve the quality of education.In an unprecedented step,the government took responsibility for the nutrition and health of school-aged children across China's poor rural areas.In this context,the study provesthe different interventions of improving the nutrition and health of students,and selects the most cost-effective intervention methods in different nutritional health interventions to provide decision-making basis for policy makers.It is conducive to the optimal allocation of resources,so as to promote the reserve of human capital in China by improving the nutrition and health of students.In order to achieve the above objectives,based on the large sample,this study mainly includes the following research contents:(1)Describe the nutrition and health status(measured by anemia)of students in poor rural areas in China;(2)Using a quasi-experimental method,demonstrate the impact of students' nutrition and health on human capital(measured by student academic performance);(3)Analyze the impact of different types of interventions on improving students' nutrition and health through five randomized intervention trials on nutrition and health.Exploring interventions which can improve the nutrition and health of students;(4)Calculate the most cost-effective interventions in interventions that can improve the nutrition and health of students through cost-effective analysis to provide supplementary recommendations for the implementation of nutrition improvement programs,and provide policymakers with a scientific basis for optimal resource allocation.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)From 2009 to 2016,the anemia rate of students is above 20%.In poor rural areas of China,the malnutrition of students is still a problem;(2)Using the propensity score matching method,It proved that anemia has negative impact on students' academic performance.Therefore,students' malnutrition has a great impact on human capital reserves.(3)Vitamin intervention and Pay for performance intervention have significant effects on decreasing students' anemia rate.It will reduce the anemia rate of students and increase the hemoglobin value;however,information intervention has no effect on decreasing students' anemia rate;(4)Based on cost-effective analysis,Pay for performance incentive intervention is the most cost-effective than vitamin intervention It takes the least cost to achieve a certain goal.Based on the above research conclusions,we suggest that:(1)suggest that the education department and the health department pay attention to the malnutrition of students in poor rural areas in China;(2)apply the intervention method of Pay for performance incentive intervention to improve the nutrition and health of students.
