As one of the most important components of global change research, The study on land use/land cover change (LUCC) has been the frontier all the while after entering the new millennium. Land use/land cover change, which is the one of important influential factors to the environment on the ground, is regarded as the main cause of the global and regional environment change. As a result, how to understand the impact of land use/land cover change to regional ecological environment is the key problem for realizing the sustainable development of region.Land use/land covers change (LUCC) is an important content of global change research, it not only needs macroscopic research of big measure, but also needs the cooperation of little measure research. As a fast developing area, Jinjiang has certain similarity with other economic prosperous belts in Chinese southeast coast and has greater discrepancy with other domestic and international areas , and its internal discrepancy is also comparatively apparent. Therefore, as a special case of LUCC research, Jinjiang is certainly typical and representative, and is an ideal district forresearch in the viewpoint of land use/land cover change. Under the support of GIS, by making use of the remote sensed data, the land use map, statistical data suchas soil general data and field-measured data, the characters of land use change in Jinjiang city between 1988 and 2001 are analyzed in this thesis. Than, some preliminary studies on the impacts of land use change to regional soil erosion and regional eco-environment safety are made. The most important of this study is to support the foundation for the city of Jinjiang to formulate the policy of land use optimization.The study results not only provide regional research case that proof each other for big measure land use/land cover change, but also provide scientific basis for implement land sustainable utilization project of Jinjiang.
