| In the study of geography and regional economy, the equilibrium and disparities of regional development are long-existing problems. The disparity of regional development is one of the fundamental characteristics of china's national situation. In china, the economy and society development disparities exist not only in the larger regional unit but also in province, city and district units. The unbalanced extent in all regions has been enlarging since 1990's.All kinds of disadvantageous effects caused by unbalanced economy have become increasingly apparent and this gives rise to the attention of center government, various economic and social organizations and the populace. With the rapid construction undertaking development, the generalization strength of Anhui province is increasing. However, at the same time, Anhui province is facing the same "equity and efficiency " problem. Therefore, how to promote the harmony economy development of Anhui province by combining equity and efficiency has become a realistic and urgent problem. Combining the geographic information system (GIS) technology and the statistics model, this paper tries to study the changing trend of regional development equilibrium since China's reform and the present situation of the equilibrium in 2002. The effective synthesis of statistical analysis and GIS technology provides an interactive visible supporting tool, which is flexible and convenient. According to various queries, we acknowledge the development disparities among regions in Anhui province and know about their concrete locations and scopes. Furthermore, we can throw light on the results of spatial statistics analysis with the help of GIS technology.This tackles the problem of spatial location expression in the analysis of regional economy. Through analysis, we find that regional development disparities have been expanding since 1978 and there also exists several decreasing phases during the increasing period. Compared with the population centroids, the economic centroids are located in the southeast, which indicates the east and south of Anhui province are the high-density of economic development. According to the analysis of various society and economy elements, we conclude that the regional economic development disparities have been brought about under the influences of regional economic increasing speed, the conditions of populace and labor, traffic and location conditions and the policy factor. According to the practical circumstances, this paper finally brings forward the strategy measures to promote the harmony development of regional economy of Anhui Province.
