Land Use Research In Urban-Rural-Integration-Area Based On RS/GIS

With the fast development of Yangtze delta, in Urban-Rural-Integration-Area (URIA) of big cities appear a good deal of conflicts, which includes conflict between need for land from economic development and land supply; conflict between construction sprawl and cropland protection; disaccord between developing and planning rooted from planning lagging behind development of URIA and etc. These conflicts came forth not only because the managers lack mature managing experiences for long-time detached management in urban and rural area, but also for various glossaries and uncertain boundaries of URIA, theory system of which is digressive from application, Consequently, hard to be put into practice effectively. As the result, that brings difficulties to urban planning and land managing, even does harm to harmonious development between urban and rural, as well as urban sustainable development. To solve these problems and find out scientific and effective land managing methods for URIA, this paper focuses in the following items:I. Definition method of URIA boundary. Considering quantifying the boundary of URIA is the premise for further study into land use, this paper analyzes commuting characteristic between urban and rural as well as spatial relations between built-up area and towns, puts forward a definition method of URIA using multi-resources data including satellite imageries.II. Analysis on spatial-temporal evolvement of URIA and land development temporal order. The paper, taking Wuxi as the case, using multi-resources satellite imageries and other supplementary data, extracts URIA boundaries of four years (1984, 1991, 1998, and 2001). Based on analyses of sprawl trends of built-up area, this paper, combining internal physical and social-economic conditions of URIA, goes deep into internal land development temporal order and emphasis.III. Research on land use characteristic and land use structure evolvement of URIA. This paper analyzes current land use characteristics of Wuxi URIA. Meanwhile, based on satellite imageries, this paper extracts URIA land use information of 1984 and 2001 to analyze land-use structure. Moreover, using primary factors affecting land use in URIA, this paper builds a regression equation to predict the changes of urban built-up area and cropland within ten years of Wuxi.IV. Summarizing primary policies and laws affecting land use of URIA after 1978, meantime based on the research mentioned above, this paper puts forward several suggestions and measures for scientific land managing from aspects of macro thoughts, planning, market, theory and management.
