Nowadays,with the help of computer application, geosciences can progress very fast especially in building three-dimensional geological model in stratigraphy, petroleum geology, mineralogy, hydrogeology and so on. Three-dimensional geological modeling system is a new information technology which is used at the beginning of 1970s and accepted and regarded gradually in geosciences. The display of three-dimensional geological model is more intuitionistic, flexible and acceptant than other traditional display methods. Three-dimensional geological model can observe the character of geology and tectonics in different points of view and can obtain some useful information that can not be gained by planar display methods. So, the research of three-dimensional geological model and visualization has been one of most important aspect in geosciences.The three-dimensional geological model of Ji'nan Karstic Spring Water Area which consists of geological body model and cross section model is built in this thesis by the visualization software of Environmental Visualization System (EVS) through collecting, analyzing and tidying data from Ji'nan Karstic Spring Water Area in Shandong province about geology, tectonics and boreholes using GIS (Geography information System) technology with the help of China-Dutch Cooperation Project which is the Capacity Building of a China Groundwater Information Centre.This three-dimensional geological model is analyzed in this paper. All the data about geology will be changed into cubic graphics format. This model can open out the relationship between geology and tectonics in Ji'nan Karstic Spring Water Area and get some important information and regularity which cannot be gained by other normal methods.The instauration of three-dimensional geological model can not only open out the characters of geology and tectonics in Ji'nan Karstic Spring Water Area, especially the regularity of groundwater runoff and springs, but also can supply of scientific and rational suggestions for the project of"Protecting Springs and Supplying Water"in Ji'nan City Shandong Province.Building this three-dimensional geological model is considered as an attempt of new method and means to the visualization because this software is seldom applied in China. After analyzing some advantages and disadvantages of EVS software, this paper brings forward some work and measures in the future.
