China is a large shipping country which has vast sea, many ports as well as the complexity of sea conditions and the heavy ship density. Shipping industry plays an important role in the national economy. The safety of the ship is the basic conditions for stable development of shipping industry and the steady for maritime transport, which makes the country and the people and property from loss. However, ships will encounter different weather conditions which have serious affection on them. Bad weather and sea conditions will be a direct threat to the safety of the ship and the shipping schedules, so it is necessary to study the meteorology which is a Non-anti-factor during the ships' navigation. With the development of the information technology, satellite communication and the sensor technology, People make a progress in mastering and using space information than ever before, which provides solid theoretical and application basis for people study, master and use the Non-anti-factor during the ships' navigation. This paper studies the theory, technology and application of Grid-based ECDIS meteorological information platform.First of all, the paper introduces the grid technology, studies the grid architecture which provides a theoretical foundation for the system platform. For the key meteorological theory, this paper studies the most commonly used method of contour generation, and uses the rectangular grid method to draw the weather isoline.Along with the progress of the computer and information technology, ECDIS has been developed into a new type of ship navigation and decision support system. This paper studies the ECDIS standard data model and display model, designs and implements the Web-based ECDIS platform, which can provides bottom information services for meteorological control, ship search and rescue, tidal analysis and prediction, ocean inspection.Grid-based ECDIS meteorological information platform is a massive pooling and sharing of weather information platform. This paper introduces grid technology to the ECDIS platform, resolves the question of meteorological information sharing and synergy, connects computing resources, storage resources, data resources, network resources with users through grid, makes weather information flow between the various nodes and components on-demand. In order to achieve the effective sharing and coordination of Weather resources.
