Research On Urban Sustainable Development Appraisement-Based On Fuzhou City

Based on extensive and all-round research documents and selecting Fuzhou city as study case, the treatise looks insight into comprehensive evaluation of urban sustainable development, then sets up a sustainable development indicators' system of Fuzhou city. After the appraisement of Fuzhou sustainable development status, the article brings forward some suggestions about how does Fuzhou city keeps sustainable development in environment, society and economy.At first, the treatise reviews the contents of comprehensive evaluation of urban sustainable development in China and other countries, which gives the background of theories and methods study for the paper as whole. On the basis of theory and practice study home and abroad, the indictors' system of Fuzhou urban sustainable development was provided applying the principles of scientific, practical, representative etc. The indictors' system has three layers. The first layer includes three first-grade indicators, which are sustainable environmental index(En), sustainable economic index(Ec) and sustainable social index(Sc), the second layer has 17 indicators and the third has 43.Aiming at the convenience of compare, the paper makes a standard treatment by a math function and gets scores of each index by Analytic Hierarchy Process method then calculates En, EC and Sc by add-weigh model. For reflecting the connotation of urban sustainable development, the paper designs 3 indexes, which are Level Index(LI), Development Index(DI) and Coordination Index(CI). On the basis of environmental, economic and social development data from 1991 to 2000, the paper makes comprehensive evaluation of Fuzhou urban sustainable development. The results are: economy increasing leads to a serious environmental phenomena and economic growth can drive social progress. As far as LI's concerned, the stage of Fuzhou urban sustainable development is turning into high-grade stage. CI index shows that Fuzhou city turns from non-sustainability to strong sustainability during this decade. And from DI index, we can know that Fuzhou city's sustainability became strong and strong. Furthermore, the article compares the sustainabledevelopment status between Fuzhou city and Hangzhou city.Finally, the treatise gives some suggestions about Fuzhou city in urban sustainable development around economy, society and environment. And prospects further research on urban sustainable development in the future.
