Nowadays modeling lens-edger is widely used in domestic glasses industry. But, the glasses processed by lens-edger have many disadvantages such as low quality and discomfort and they might be harmful to customers' eyesight. As the fast development of computer and numerical control technology, it provides strong support for improving the quality and efficiency of lens manufacturing. In this article, several key technologies of numerical control lens-edging system are studied and applied into the development of prototype machine. By comparison and analysis of the lens-edging equipments used in domestic and abroad, a new structure for fast development of the numeric control lens-edging system is given. Based on the structure, the tracer and numerical control lens-edger are designed. First, the high accurate measuring principle of tracer is discussed. Then the hardware and software of the tracer are designed and debugged for desired function. In addition, the hardware of numerical control lens-edger is designed. The USB module is also developed and two methods for the design of USB communication program are introduced. In the end, some solutions used for EMC are introduced and acquire well effects. The lens-edging system has completed all debugging work and reaches the expectant goal. This success provides solid foundation for putting it into market.
