Cylinder mix machine is a kind of machinery that is very important and used extensively in metallurgy industry. Many large cylinder mix machine cracked frequently in our country, which influenced production seriously, and caused the great economic losses. Accordingly, it is very important and significant to calculate the stress of the cylinder especially in the dangerous position, and to predict its crackle expanding speed and its surplus life. The analysis and study was aiming at the cylinder mix machine in No. 3 shop of Wuhan Steel and Iron Corporation Sinter Factory.In this paper, analyze the Cylinder mix machine's structure and working principle. Then,finish major parts' three-dimensional model and virtual assemble through Pro/E three-dimension design software.The mechanism's actual circumstances of interference is checked through Pro/E three-dimension design software. In the course of the Cylinder mix machine's design and development, using the modern design method, the auxiliary designing technique of computer, simulation technology of computer etc, can make the design ability attain to a higher level.In this paper, a detailed analysis for the state of the supporting wheel and cylinder's is carried on firstly.Then establish supporting wheel and cylinder's finite element model which boundary conditions are fit for practice. The stress and distortion of wheel and cylinder was analyzed and calculated through the finite element simulation method. Moreover, a finite element simulation to the wheel and cylinder was done through the finite element software ANSYS which was most popular at present. With its strong function of post processor, various kinds of colored atlases about stress, distortion and displacement were protracted. In succession, analysis of some regulation which was about the expand law of the cylinder and the influence factors of the expansion of the crack was made.A forecast of the speed of the crack's expansion was drawn. As a result the approximate remain life was obtained by calculating the circulation times from the initial crack to critical crack.In order to forecast the expansion speed of the crack and the surplus life of the cylinder, relevant theory of fracture mechanics and the result of finite element analysis was used. Analysed the relative error between the forecast value and the measured value by MATLAB software,the result showed that the method wascreditable.
