As a kind of shaping tool, the quality and regeneration of products has a direct effect upon the level of design and manufacture of mold. However, at present, the mold CAD technology of our country is still relatively backward, professional mold CAD software is in great short. Thus, the research on new technology of mold CAD is extremely urgent.At present, the design of plastic bottles in the domestic market mainly goes on by the way of retrofitting. But there are no special CAD systems doing such kind of jobs. This paper chooses a plastic bottle shaped by stretch-blowing in two steps and its blowing mold as the main research objects, and has developed the Plastic Bottle and its Blowing Mold Computer Aided Design System, that is PBBMCAD system for short. The system is developed on the plate of Visual C++ 6.0 with Pro/TOOLKIT, which is the developing tool of Pro/ENGINEER. This system has realized bottle design parameterization and mold design automation by three pieces of function modules. They are the Bottle Design Parameterization module, the Mold Design Automation module and the Mold Strength Check module. This system takes facilitating users and fully improving design efficiency as its purpose, fully infiltrates with the idea of parametric design, which have made the design so convenient and fast that the whole design process can complete only in a few minutes by modifying parameters and hitting buttons. Through the development of PBBMCAD system, a new method of carrying on mold design automation has been put forward. In addition, a method of carrying out assembly design parameterization with Pro/TOOLKIT has been put forward in accordance with the mold design parameterization, which has offset the deficiency of Pro/TOOLKIT that only offers the method of carrying out part design parameterization, and has exploited a new field of developing with Pro/TOOLKIT. What's more, through researches on developing methods of PBBMCAD system, a feasible and convenient method of developing professional CAD software has also been found for packaging, by which a new field for the current relatively backward packaging design has been inaugurated...
