The Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine is mainly used to cut the metallographic sample and the metal stick or make slot in metal material, which make the machine widely used in machinery , metallurgy, automobile and aviation etc. With the development of science and technology in our country and the joining in the WTO, the machine will develop with the development of industry. The technology of the metallographic sample developed very fast, but there was no large Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine which can cut the big part directly. The research on large Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine have become its inexorable developing trend in order to meet the needs of industry and promote the of development of Metallographic' careers.The cutting theory of the Metallographic Sample's cutting and the process of the Metallographic Sample's abrading and cutter were researched in this paper according to the requirement of the Metallographic Sample,and indicated difficult problemsand keys on its development.The Metallographic Sample cutter was analysed systemic according to the Mechatronics' system design 'Principle and the whole sculpt,machine,control system were designed. The technology of computer made the machine and the electronics tied in.To the machine system ,the design of whole exterior,the execute machine,the par of drive,the clamp were completed and the CAD technology brought about auto- drawing,which improved the designing precision and efficiency.As far as the controlling system is concerned,the heart of the control system wasPLC(programmable logic controller),which means the simple control,convenience operate and better ability of resistance.The cutting machine belongs to grinding wheel cutting mode, it brought crosswise and vertical cutting ability to full play by suitable means. The machine adopted firstly omnibearing cooling system and closed cutting pattern, the measures improved the sampling quality, enhanced the environmental protection and the operation safety;the paper advanced a kind of single-chip microprocessor system, it can not only accomplish the fundamental function, but also invent a new type of intelligent controlling system with frequency conversion timing technology, which qualified the sampling quality.Experiments indicated that the Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine with reliable performance and unique designing fashion can operate without supervision , it reduced the labor intensity and raise the working efficiency, importantly, it accelerated the development of the metallographic as well as possessed highly application and dissemination.
