The Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine is mainly used to cut the metallographic sample and the metal stick or make slot in all kinds of metal materials , which make the machine widely used in machinery, metallurgy, automobile and aviation etc. The technology of the Metallographic Sample developed very fast after the 1990, but there was no large Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine which can cut the big part directly. The research on the large Metallographic Sample Cutting Machine have become its inexorable developing trend in order to meet the needs of industry and promote the of development of Metallographic' careers.The cutting theory of the metallographic sample's cutting and the process of the metallographic sample's abrading and cutter were researched in this paper according to the requirementof the metallographic sample, and indicated difficult problems and keys on its development. The metallographic sample cutter was analysed systemic according to the Mechatronics' system design Principle and the whole sculpt, machine, control system were designed. The technology of computer made the machine and the electronics tied in. To the machine system, the design of whole exterior ,the execute machine, the part of drive, the clamp were completed and the CAD technology brought about auto-drawing, which improved the designing precision and efficiency. As far as the controlling system is concerned, The heart of the control system was PLC(programmable logic controller), which means the simple control, convenience operate and better ability of resistance.The cutting machine belongs to grinding wheel cutting mode, it brought crosswise and vertical cutting ability to full play by suitable cutting mode. The construct became simpleness by the advanced execute machine of advance and retreat of the cutter wheel. The clamp was designed that made the workpiece loading easily and reliable. It was no needed to monitored by the man when it working. This reduced the labour of man and enhanced the work efficiency, so it had good value of practicality and spread.
