Research Of Wire-Feeding System For WEDM-LS

This article is mainly about the research on the development about WEDM-LS. The ability to control the constant speed and tension is one of the important targets to evaluate the performance of WEDM-LS, which will directly affect the machining precise and machined surface quality. With the developing needs on micro and high precise manufacture these years, more requests on the stability of wire-feeding system are called on. Therefore, it has profound meanings to research on the wire-feeding system.The new developments of WEDM-LS and the wire-feeding system for WEDM-LS are stated first in this paper on basis of lots of domestic and overseas technique literature on WEDM-LS. After analyzing and researching on the working theory of wire-feeding device, a method to control close loop tension using different rotating speed of double motors is presented. A wire-feeding system is researched with PC as main controlling unit, the data collector card of PCI bus as converting I/O, the AC motor as the performing device and the tension sensor as the feedback unit. A maths model of wire-feeding system is set up and a system transforming function is presented.The mechanic part for wire-feeding is developed. On the research of key parts, a structure to automatically adjust the pressure between Speed Wheel and Pressing Wheel, and that between Tension Wheel and Pressing Wheel.The wire-feeding system successfully modularized the controlling system. The multi-circuits with constant voltage are designed and debugged, accompanying with the hardwire containing the relay controlling circuit, the wire-broken detecting circuit, and the software containing the A/D converting, the digital filter, the PID adjuster and the rotating speed tester. Also, a real time controlling software of wire-feeding system is realized, so that the feasible and stability of the wire-feeding system is assured.After debugging and confirming the inside and outside parameters of the wire-feeding system, the general test is carried out on the whole controlling system.
