This paper bring forward a new design method that use virtual prototyping technology to design single hydraulic props, which is based these condition characteristic: people now broadly adhibit single hydraulic props to support in general mining and in advanced general mining work face, and synthesize condition under coal mine, single hydraulic prop update quickly, ect.Introduce the concept of virtual prototyping technology, the develop actuality of single hydraulic prop domestic and overseas, the meaning of using virtual prototyping technology to design single hydraulic prop. Introduce single hydraulic prop's structure characteristic, work element and its parameter design calculation. Introduce the concept of parametric design, in the circumstance of UG, accomplish three-dimensional parametric design of single hydraulic prop and realize piston parametric parts family establishment by means of electronic form, complete virtual assemble using Bottom-Up method. Introduce the basic concept of finite element method and ANSYS soft, in the circumstance of ANSYS, accomplish stress and strain analysis of single hydraulic prop's main load bearing parts, validate the design of parts is in reason or not according to distortion quantity of parts in the state of bearing the weight. At last use ADAMS soft to actualize dynamics emulate analysis of single hydraulic prop.This design method solves these problem: the high costs of manufacture single hydraulic prop, manufacturing physical prototyping to trial has damaging characteristic, difficult to define the cause of parts being broken down. Accordingly reach the aim of shorting design periods, saving design funds, improving the products's design efficiency, has very important meaning to the safe produce under the coal mine.
