Hydraulic press is one of the widest used equipment in product forming. It is irreplaceable in the defense and aviation industry for production of large-size forgings. It has become one of the key equipment in modern industry. Lower beam bears most of the press force, so it is one of the key components of hydraulic press. Its deformation and other characteristics will directly affect the quality of final processing. Hydraulic press structural optimization is more and more urgent in press industry.First of all, the finite element model and structural optimal design model of the lower beam of certain hydraulic press is set up. Taking the weight of the lower beam as the objective function, choosing the thickness of seventeen main steel plate of the welded-steel plate construction's physical dimensions as the design variables, the structural optimal design model has been obtained on the condition of the intensity, rigidity, border constrains. Meanwhile, the tetrahedron element is used to mesh the finite element model . The load is analyzed and calculated by the theory of equivalent stress. Finally, the finite element model of the lower beam is established. By the analysis and calculation in ANSYS, the node displacement and stress are given out. The result presents the lower beam's distortion and stress distribution. The data is testified to be in accord with the actual one.The structural optimal design program, including the analysis file and optimization file is programmed by the APDL language of ANSYS. Taking the sub-problem and the random search method, the accurate and best design parameters are obtained. With large reduce on mass, the mechanical property of the lower beam is well improved. As this model is constructed by the whole parameterization design, and is easy to be modified repeatedly, the method presented in this desertion presents an effective way on hydraulic press parts optimization.
