Hydraulic press is one of the pressure processing apparatus, it is widely used in national economic departments, it has great variety, and is developed rapidly, and hydraulic press has been an important part of the machine tool industry. As a general forging equipment, the deformation of its key parts and other features directly or indirectly affect the processing quality of the parts. The traditional design method simplifies the model, roughly estimates the features of parts, which is difficult to ensure the accuracy and reliability. The designers usually have to increase the factor of safety, which inevitably increases the weight of hydraulic press, thus leading to a waste of material, moreover they can't judge whether it meets the requirements of the important characteristics.The FEM provides us a strong and forceful and accurate analysis method for the structure analysis of large-scale complicated parts. The paper, based on the hydraulic press design theory, consulted the original structure design and the designer's experience, determined the structure and technical parameter of the YA32-500 four columns hydraulic press according to the standard published by the sector, firstly analyzed and computed the whole structure of the press with FEM, with the tool of large FE software-ANSYS, then built models of the up-beam, the low-beam, and the hydraulic pressure cylinder parametrically, and made an optimization design with their weight as the objective function. Optimal design is a technology to search and determine the best design program. The so-called optimal design refers to a program that meets all design requirements, and the minimum expenditure is required. That is, the optimal design is the most efficient program.According to the result after optimization, the paper ameliorates the original design, and puts forward the new structure design of the key parts, which provides new theory references for the YA32-500 four columns hydraulic press design.The paper works out the modal analysis of the frame structure, which is made of the up beam, low beam and the columns, after the major components optimization, Hydraulic press often works with a strong vibration, which seriously compromises the work ability of the hydraulic press. The hydraulic vibration is always a big problem to be solved in need but still not completely solved so far. It is a major reference to derive the inherent vibration frequency and the corresponding vibration mode by analyzing the hydraulic framework structure modal to solve the problem. The paper builds the framework model and divides it into grid, computes the natural vibration frequencies and their corresponding vibration mode, and takes the tenth-order vibration mode as an example to explain the impaction of the vibration to the hydraulic work condition, which provides the basis for the hydraulic vibration characteristic analysis, the vibration fault diagnosis and forecast and dynamic characteristics of the structure optimization design in the future.
