The open-type numerical control system has become the development trend of NC technology nowadays, and the present NC systems are mainly based on PCs (personal computers) with various motion controllers. The open NC System is to provide users with a platform for the development of open standards, on this platform, users can step through standardization to simplify the system's basic modules and basic elements. We can add some hardware or software to change the topology, and allow any third party technologies or products to integrate.The open-type motion controller has developed rapidly, which uses multi-MCUs and DSP as core processors and combines the information-handling capacity and the open-type characteristic of PC with the controller's motion path control ability, the Upper-and-Nether Computer communication mode is adopted to realize the master-slave control, having many advantages such as strong information-handling capacity, good open-type characteristic, precise motion path, good versatility. In the future, the development of open-type motion controllers based on computer standard bus is still the market mainstream.This paper have expatiated the systematic design of motion controller bases on PCI which uses multi-MCUs and DSP as the core processors,including the hardware design,the software realization of testing and motor control and so on, at the same time,have carried out the allocation of resources on system ,which can enhance the control efficiency better. Because of PC's rich resources, a convenient, pragmatic and beautiful user interface can be designed, which can greatly improve the CNC's manipulation complexity on the basis of the machining precision. The application of this system can realize the multi-motors system's open-loop or half closed-loop control.
