Cross Wedge Rolling (CWR) has been studied and applied in forging for half a century. The technology is proved to be very efficient as a forming process of automobile shaft and preparation prefabricated blanks for die forging. The freeway in China is almost consummate, and the heavy truck industry is growing rapidly. So the shaft in engines and transmission cases should be improved either with shapes or with qualities. CWR is an important forming process during the production, so the development of CWR machine is heading for greatness, automation and high rigidity. Beijing Research Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology (BRIMET) already developed CWR machine D46-125×1100, which has been successfully applied to produce prefabricated blanks of axle shaft for heavy truck. The phase angle adjustment device is an assistant mechanism of the machine, and it's very important to support the machine for high efficiency and high quality production.But particular research of phase angle adjustment device is barely found till now. This article has done some research through contrasting the phase angle adjustment device of large CWR machine with that of small one. And it also carried on a great deal of calculation and computer simulation of phase angle adjustment device in large CWR machine based on dynamics analysis and software ADAMS. The study elicited some rules of important parts when they are running in different condition. And the study can guide for optimizing the phase angle adjustment device.This article introduced fatigue analysis in the design of phase angle adjustment device. The key part's static analysis has been done with finite element method and professional software of ANYSY. And it analysed the fatigue life with fatigue tool of the software. The article also did target optimization of the mechanism and the key part, which can provide theoretic support to improve the whole capability of the machine.The special double eccentric mechanism for adjusting the center distance will cause the phase angle difference when the center distance of two rollers changes. So after changing the center distance, the phase angle difference should be eliminated. This article has made the adjustment of phase angle correspond to circles of nuts at different center distance.
