| With the development of computer software and hardware, 3D-CAD has been used widely on PC during the latest decade. In the field of casting CAD, the 3D software is the inevitable trend in the future, because it is easier to realize the integration of casting process CAD/CAE/CAM.In the traditional sand casting design, it demands the designer to use the Modeling module to design the mould, from the design of parting surface to design of gating system. All of these operations will spend a lot of time and many of them could be simplified. So it is strongly recommended to do some research on it. On this background, some research has been made on sand casting system based on Unigraphics in this article.Based on the mould design of classic product in DISA line, the process of mould design is concluded. On this ground, a system designed for sand casting on DISA line is developed with VC6.0 and Unigraphics. This system mainly includes three parts: one is the initializing of the system of sand casting, the other is the parting module, and another is the standard parts module. Initializing module is used to load the product and set the direction of the part. Parting module is used to search the parting lines and generate the paring surface. Standard parts module is used to add the standard parts such as mold base and gating system. A simple method of generating parting lines is put forward in this paper. Practice shows that this system can improve the efficiency of mould design. |
