Baosteel's 5000 heavy plate mill can provide wide-plates and heavy-plates for ship manufacturing industry, bridge building industry, petrochemical industry and war industry. But in the process of rolling producing, some problems arise as well, leading to producing delayed. The goal of this dissertation serves to analysis problems in main drive system of the 5000 mm heavy plate mill in heavy plate factory, Baoshan Iron and Steel Company. From the point of dynamics analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), the dissertation gives one analysis of the main drive system's torsional vibration and the dynamic strength of joints. The main research work of this text as the following:First, the mechanical model is established of main drive system torsional vibration. By solving the dynamic equations of eigenvalue problem, obtained the system's natural frequency and vibration mode and its impact on moment of inertia and torsional stiffness of the sensitivity, and studied the axial movement of roller's impact on the system natural frequencies. The study found the natural frequency and vibration mode distribution of the main drive system is reasonable, it showed the drive design was reasonable.Next, based on the established model of torsional vibration, using newmark integration, studied the system's dynamic response, and obtained the various axes section's torque amplification factor (TAF). Meanwhile, the influence of axial movement of rolling mill to TAF was considered, and so the roll torque, the time of being and damp ratio. Finally, under the rated torque, has discovered jaw's biggest stress place, carried on the intensity examination, and also made the analysis to the stress distribution of the cross shaft bearing, utilizing the finite element analysis software ANSYS to carrying out 3D finite element calculation upon the jaw and cross shaft bearing. Thus,it provided theoretical basis for further design and technological improvements of this rolling mill.
