Abstract Fire scenarios design is a key step in performance-based fire safety design and fire risk assessment. A complete fire scenario design should be a unity of static and dynamic scenarios, existing the static structure and distribution of buildings, combustibles, but also dynamic characteristics of fire development and spreading such as flame spreading and smoke movement etc, both visual geometric graphic and the corresponding distribution of the flammable materials, combustion characteristics and the physics and chemistry and other parameters diversification in the process of fire development and spreading.A typical development of fire in fire compartment can be described by a reasonable fire scenario. Design fire can describe a typical development of fire in a fire separation and can be the necessary data for input parameters in fire risk assessments. To make design fire depend on the descriptive parameters, such as combustibles quantity, compartment size and smoke ventilation. Combustibles distribution, burning point and other uncertain parameters could be ensured with the probability of the type of fire statistics. In this paper, the development and spread of the fire properties is introduced, and then the fire mechanism is analyzed. The design fire scenario is discussed and analyzed in detail and the environmental impact for fire surrounding the compartment that include fire compartment size, combustibles distribution, fire load and smoke ventilation is considered based on the basic principles in design fire scenario and approaches and the theory basis of performance-based fire safety design. Combined with experimental data, find the corresponding function of the state of access to the fire scenario description based on similarity theory,Ï€law, as well as dimensional analysis. the control parameters will further affect the fire development and smoke movement and personnel evacuation, thus completing the entire building fire risk assessment or performance-based fire safety design.
