At present the cartoon toy industry of China is growing rapidly, but the corresponding level of innovative toy design still needs to be improved. As a kind of product which is dominated by its emotional desire of users, it is essential to research on the user's image preference. The traditional design based on imitation has already not well adapted to the market-oriented cartoon toy design needs. According to the theory of product image, the user's image preference is introduced into the process of cartoon toy design, and then the sculpt design and evolution methods combined with users'image preference are proposed to improve the innovation sculpt design of cartoon toy design.In chapter 1, the development of cartoon toy industry is introduced with the description of the status of cartoon toy design. The research in the related field are given for references, current problems in cartoon design are analyzed. Finally the full research ideas are given and the main contents of the full text are summarized.In chapter 2, the research methods and analysis of users'image preference are given. Firstly, the concept and the formation of product image are introduced, the content and characteristics of users'image preference are analyzed accordingly and some research methods are listed Secondly, based on the semantic quantization of users'image preference, the description of image survey method is given. The analysis of illustrative examples is introduced according to the relevant statistical methods.In chapter 3, the perception and expression of product image in the design process are discussed, the design model is proposed, as well as the association between sculpt and image. First the characteristics and differences between users and designers on the perception and expression of image are analyzed, and then the cartoon toy sculpt design model is proposed on it. Based on the sketch-based modeling technology, the cartoon toy sculpt design is realized by the process of the first sculpt design, feature extraction, modeling and image correlation, image-driven modeling rules.In chapter 4, a genetic evolution method for cartoon toys guided interactively by image is proposed in this chapter. First, the sculpt part library is established by the existing toys, and then the sculpt parts are encoded for the genetic algorithm. Users' evaluation is introduced into the evolution process based on the analysis result of users'image preference. The genetic algorithm is improved according to the needs of cartoon toy sculpt evolution.In chapter 5, the three-dimensional cartoon design CAD system is introduced with the basic functions of sketch-based modeling. The interface developed on this platform for cartoon toy sculpt design and evolution is given, and some cartoon toy examples are illustrated.In chapter 6, the research results of this subject were summarized, and the future research direction are expected.
