The paper is based on the design method of profiles of formed milling cutters, take the SolidWorks as the platform of CAD developments, use the technology of SolidWorks API, Visual Basic programming language and Microsoft Access database technology, to explore the development methods of "the helicoid tine formed milling cutters'parametric design system". The main object of study is disc tine formed milling cutter. The goal is the successful development of integrated system including helicoids-formed milling cutters' design simulation of process and test.The paper has established mathematical model of milling cutter according to spiral theory, formed milling cutters design method, the spiral-forming methods. Discussed the following question, cutting excessive, the exclusion of iron chips, center distance determination and the choice of crossed axes angle and so on, provide the structure optimization program of tine formed milling cutters. According to the nature of spiral work and the spiral relations between the location of various cross-section, the paper solved the conversion questions of various sections. The work of point of discrete and continuous curve can be solved.The paper has introduced development mentality and the method of exploitation of formed milling cutter parametric design system based on the SolidWorks software platform, drive the 3D model through calling the function of the SolidWorks API, realized the processing simulation of the helicoid forming process by using the Boolean calculation theory and SolidWorks'modelling characteristic of basing on characteristic, add to the technology of the conversion of entities and API function in the draft operational functions, complete the test of the simulation results, can make the error test to milling cutter's design precision.Finally, paper take two tapes of workpiece truncation, including discrete points and continuous curve, as the trial conditions, test on the milling cutters'design, three-dimensional model's establishment, the simulation of product process, simulation result's examination.
