Helicoid formed milling cutter is a dedicated complex cutter.It requires specific design of the workpiece profile.The design process of this cutter is complicated,difficult to grasp and easily give rise to various design problems.The paper is based on the design method of profiles of formed milling cutters,for the problem of continuous curve-shaped workpiece and discontinuous cusp curve helicoid formed milling cutter design,set up corresponding mathematical model.To discrete given in the form of discrete points of the workpiece curve of the cutter design method,and base on arbitrary position of workpiece cross-section to design the cutter.The main object of study is disctine formed milling cutter,take Visual Basic as programming language and Microsoft Access database technology, use the technology of SolidWorks API, to explore the development methods of the helicoid tine formed milling cutters'parametric design system,and use VERICUT simulation software,can make the milling simulation and profile test.The milling cutter system through the Visual Basic call SolidWorks API function,to completion of milling cutter of parametric modeling based on cutter design parameters.On this basis, application of engineering drawing to save profile cutter-shaped curve and transformed into VERICUT,and simulation required for the establishment of other necessary documents to carry out machining process simulation. In order to test the design of milling precison profile,use VERICUT analysis function to campare with the theoretical profile,further improve the overall system.Finally, paper take two tapes of workpiece truncation, including discrete points and continuous curve, as the trial conditions, test on the milling cutters'design, three-dimensional model's establishment, the simulation of product process, simulation result's examination.
