With the rapid growth of our country economy and the universal improve of the living standard of the people, the air conditionings were used in common. the ratio of the consumption of energy of the refrigeration and air conditioning of the whole nation is getting larger. The study on energy saving of the refrigeration and air conditioning is a very important task of our country's energy saving works.Taking the frequency conversion controlled chiller of the XuZhou Jingang hotel as the studying object, author surveyed and analyzed the performance data of the chiller. Taking the advantage of the system simulation software— Designer's Simulation Toolkit- Ⅱ by the Qinghua university, author calculated the dynamic refrigeration duty of the air conditioning system in an air conditioning period. With the surveyed data and the dynamic refrigeration duty of the variable speed chiller, the total consumption energy of the chiller were calculated by comparing with that fix speed chiller. The conclusion is that the variable speed chiller has excelling effect in energy saving. The method and process of the surveyed data with the variable speed chiller were described in the paper. The result of the relational expression of refrigerating output and the coefficience of performance (COP) was obtained. The economic analysis was made based on the effect of energy saving of the chiller. The result was obtained that the investment of the additional frequency conversion installation of the piston frequency conversion controlled chiller can be declaimed in four years and helical chiller can be declaimed in one years. The several principal questions of the fix speed chiller improving to the variable speed chiller were discussed and the tentative ways to deal with the questions were put forward.
