There exist two 100 seeds weight types in the production of Adzuki bean (Vigna angularis). One isrelatively small seeds,the other is relatively big seeds. Small seeds variety is characterized by superiorquality. Big seeds variety has inferior quality. To meet the demand of market , it is necessary to improvethe qulity of big seeds variety or to increase the 100 seeds weight of superior quality variety. So it isimportant to understand the genetic basis of 100 seeds weight trait.Through many years' production,the F1 were all black legume after the cross of brown pod variety andwhite pod variety. So the bastard in F1 can be distinguished through the black legume trait. In this study,genetic segregation analysis of 100 seeds weight was made using the major gene-polygene mixedinheritance model with segregating generations. At the same time,the genetic polymorphism of legumecolour and 100 seeds weight traits were detected by RAPD.1. Using P1, P2, F1and F2 in four crosses as analyzing populations, it was found that :in the crosses of B-1×HB801 and HB801×JN5, 100 seeds weight was controlled by one major gene with additive-dominance effects plus polygenes with additive-dominance-epistatic effects. In the cross of B-1×Danayan, it was two major genes with additive-dominance plus polygenes with additive-dominance effects. The 100 seeds weight trait was controlled by two major genes with same dominance effects plus polygenes with additive-dominance effects in the cross of JN5×JN001.2. Inheritances of 100 seeds weight was further studied by using five populations (P1, P2, F1, F2 and F2:3) derived from the cross of HB801×JN5. The results showed that 100 seeds weight was also controlled by one major gene with additive-dominance-effects plus polygenes with additive-dominance-epistatic effects.3. Genetic polymorphism between parents(JN5×HB801)and in F2 had been examined by 520 RAPD primers. The results preliminarily showed that one primer(S91) detected polymorphic band of seed weight, which was about 1100bp; the other primer(S136) detected polymorphic band of pod colour, which was about 1200bp. But the degree of tightness between the polymorphic band and the gene should be proved.
