| Objective To observe the efficacy of the cycle therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion for follicular maldevelopment (FM) induced by the deficiency of kidney and spleen. After the treatment, the Basal Body Temperature (BBT), follicles development condition, the changes of endometrial thickness and morphology, as well as the relief of symptoms were compared.Method 60 cases of kidney and spleen deficiency were randomly divided into two groups. The cycle therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion was applied in the treatment group, while the control group was given the regular treatment. Each group accepted the treatment every other day and the treatment course lasted three months. After treatment, there was a follow-up interview about the subsequent effect during the first menstruation period.Results (1).Before treatment, the statistical analysis of the base-line profiles (like age, duration, etc) and related indicators showed no significant difference (P>0.05).It means the two sets of data grouping are balanced and comparable.(2) The overall curative effect comparison:The rate of the treatment group was 92.86% while the control group was 85.19%.The comparison of curative effect between the two groups showed significant difference by the statistical analysis (P< 0.05), suggesting the cycle therapy is better than ordinary therapy.(3) The basal body temperature (BBT):The self-comparison of the two groups between before and after treatment showed the two-way rate of BBT were both improved, it means acupuncture and moxibustion therapy can improve BBT. And the data also revealed the treatment group did not show obvious advantage in improving BBT than the control group, as though it made more BBT become normal. After study the BBT during the follow up interview, found that the two groups both had follow-up effect (P<0.05).But the treatment group was superior to the control group because the higher rate of normal patients (P<0.05). (4) The follicular situation:The self-comparison of two groups between and after treatment showed both groups can improve the follicular. And the cycle therapy can better increase the follicular diameter, it is more effective than the regular method. The outcome of follow-up interview showed both therapy can develop follicular, but the diameter of follicular in the treatment group is much bigger than the control group (P<0.05).The cycle therapy had better follow-up effect.(5) The comparison of endometrial thickness and shape:The comparison showed both groups can improve the endometrial situation (P<0.05).As though the two groups had the similar ability in improving the endometrial thickness, but the treatment group was more advantage in morphological changes (P<0.05).After made the statistical analysis of follow-up results, found that the follow-up effect of endometrial thickness were almost same, but the cycle therapy was superior in improving the endometrial morphology (P<0.05).(6) The comparison of symptom score:The two kinds of treatment can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms after the statistical analysis (P<0.05), and it also showed the treatment group could better improve the Chinese Medicine Symptom Score (P<0.05). As though they both had a follow-up effect in relieving the clinical symptoms, but the cycle therapy could made the score better (P<0.05).Conclusion Both the cycle therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion and the regular therapy can improve the associated indicators of follicular maldevelopment due to kidney and spleen deficiency. But the cycle therapy had more significant results in improving BBT, follicles condition, endometrial morphology and Chinese Medicine Symptom Score than the regular therapy of acupuncture and moxibustion. Suggesting that the cycle therapy is superior to the regular therapy in the clinical efficacy, and it’s safe with low side-effects. |
