Objective To evaluate the effect of Type 2 diabetes mellitus on endothelium-de-pendent vasodilation. Methods All subjects were divided into three groups, Groupl is fifteen healthy control subjects, Group2 is Eighteen patients with single Type 2 diabetes mellitus, GroupS is seventeen patients with Type 2 diabetes Mellitus and dyslipdemia. Endotheli-um-dependent vasodilation (flow-mediated vasodilation) and endothelium-independent vasodilation(nitroglycerin-induced vasodilation) was assessed in the brachial artery by high resolution ultrasound technique. Results Q Endothelium-dependent vasodilation was reduced significantly in Group2 and GroupS compared to Groupl. It was reduced too in GroupS compared to Group2,but not significantly. 〦ndothelium-independent vasodilation was reduced in GroupS compared to Groupl and Group2,but it was reduced significantly only in GroupS compared to Group2.Conclusion Type 2 diabetes mellitus impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation through several ways.
