Objective To investigate the relationship between clinical varia-bles and prognosis in patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome and to define risk factors for developing such an event in clinical. Methods 154 patients who met SIRS criteria were studied afterthey were hospitalized in ICU of Tianjin medical university general hospital from March to December in 2001. We investigated 23 clinical variables , based on a singal factor logistic regression analysis to define the risk factors ,then we performed the mulvarity logistic regression analysis and finded independent risk factors, established logistic equation,so we can define risk factors which have important effects on clinical prognosis. Results On APACHEII score,COR and T3/rT3 were predictorscorrelated with the patients' prognosis.Odds ratio were 16.4174, 1.6568 0.1464 respectively. There were significant differences between survivors and nonsurvivors,COR value were higher in non-survivors than in that survivaors and T3/rT3 value were lower in non-survivors .Fatality was positively correlated with APACHEII score and COR , negatively to T3/rT3 .Conclution Cotisol increased and T3/rT3decreased as APACHEII score increased in patients with SIRS. It shows that cortisol and T3/rT3 were correlated with the severity of SIRS. Hypercortisolism and APACHEII score were positively correlated with fatality ,which was negatively to T3/rT3 .
