Objective:The aim of the study was to investigate clinical therapeutic effects ofacupuncture combined with medicine on migraine and the side effect rate ofmedicine, and investigate the changes of blood flow velocity in cerebral arteriesby transcranial Doppler.Method:60 cases of migraine were randomly divided into two groups: A group (30 cases)were treated by acupucture medication combined (acupuncture 1/d combined plusIbuprophen 400mg 1/d ); B group (30 cases) were given routine medicineonly(Ibuprophen 400mg 3/d). The variety of the following items were invested:clinical scores, clinical therapeutic effects, the attack rate of medical sideeffect, average blood flow velocity in every cerebral arteries by transcranialDoppler.Results:1. In both two groups, the significant decreasing was observed in clinical scores: group A(p< 0. 01), group B (p<0. 01) .The clinical scores of group A decreased significantly than that of group B(p<0. 01).2. Compared with normal level, the platelet assembly rate in acute migraine patients increased. The platelet assembly rate decreased much significantly after treatment in group A (p<0.01).3. After treatment of one month, the cured rate and the total effective rate in group A were 46. 67%and 93.33%, which were superior to 26.67% and 83.33 % in group B, respectively (all p<0. 05).4. The changes of blood flow velocity in cerebral arteries by transcranial. Doppler: the blood flow velocity in cerebral arteries of most cases were abnormal; After treatment, the regular case rate of group A was much significantly higher than that of group B (p<0. 01) .5. The attack rate of medical side effect of group A was much significantly lower than that of group B (p<0. 01) .ConclusionsThe therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with medicine on migraine is better than that of oral Ibuprophen. The treatment can significantly improve the blood flow velocity in cerebral arteries and decrease the attack rate of medical side effect.
