ObjectivesThe aim of the study was to explore the relationship of trace element and postmenopausal osteoporosis and TCM syndrome type, to disscuss the relativity of hair trace element distribution rule and postmenopausal osteoporotic TCM syndrome, in order to find the theory basis of the diagnosis and differentiation of TCM syndromes of OP.Method80 PMOP patients which were classified as four group: yin deficiency of liver and kidney group, yang deficiency of spleen and kidney group, deficiency of kidney yang and stagnation of qi and blood stasis group, were assigned as observation group and 20 health people as contrast group. We detected the trace element(Zn, Cu, Mn, Pb) of the hair. SPSS 11.5 software was applied to analyze distinct difference among the groups.Results1. The level of hair trace element Zn, Mn, Cu in the PMOP group is lower than that in the contrast group and Pb is lower(P<0.05).2. In PMOP group, the level of hair trace element Zn in the yin deficiency of liver and kidney group is lower than any others, in which there is no difference between them. The level of hair trace element Cu in the yang deficiency of spleen and kidney group and deficiency of kidney yang group is higlier than the qi and blood stasis group and yin deficiency of liver and kidney group. The level of Mn in yin deficiency of liver and kidney group is higher than any others, in which there is no difference between them.Conclusion1 There is a close relationship between trace element and postmenopausal osteoporosis, trace element play a important role in the pathological mechanism of osteoporosis.2. The level of hair element Zn, Cu, Mn is lower in the postmenopausal osteoporosis patient and Pb is higher than the same age health people, it can be a examination test in the diagnosis of PMOP.3. Kidney deficiency is the main pathogenesis of osteoporosis, it is the basis of treatment based on syndrome differentiation for osteoporosis.4. There is a close relationship between trace element and postmenopausal osteoporosis's TCM syndrome type, trace element can be a reference to syndrome differentiation for osteoporosis.
